Privacy Policy for Pace

Overview

Pace stores your data locally on your device and does not require an account. The App does not send your journey or logs to a separate backend server for the App to function.

Some data is also shared with the iOS Home Screen widget using an iOS App Group. This is done so the widget can display status without needing a server connection.

Data we store (locally)

Pace may store the following information on your device:

  • Journey data: whether onboarding is completed, journey type (Quit Today / Taper), quit date or taper plan start date, and related progress.
  • Your inputs: such as your name and motivation selected during onboarding.
  • Daily check-ins / logs: dates and mood/check-in information you record.
  • Taper plan usage: your planned limits and your daily taper logging.
  • In-app settings: including notification preferences (for example, quiet time).
  • Milestone / UI flags: values used to control what you see in the App (for example, whether rating prompts have been dismissed permanently or should be shown again after a delay).
  • Widget data (via App Group): a snapshot used by the widget to reflect your current state.

How data is stored

Pace uses iOS local storage mechanisms such as UserDefaults for persisted app state and logs, and an iOS App Group for widget snapshot data.

Because storage happens on-device, your data is not transferred to our servers for core App functionality.

Email feedback

When you submit feedback from within the App, the App may open your email client using a mailto: link (for example, to contact our support address). The email is handled by your email provider/client. Pace does not directly upload your feedback to a server.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, Pace schedules local notifications using iOS notification capabilities. Notification delivery and preferences are managed by the iOS system and the App’s local state.

Analytics, advertising, and crash reporting

Pace does not use third-party advertising or third-party analytics services. If any Apple-managed services are involved (for example, for App Store purchases and related app services), they are governed by Apple’s privacy policies.

Data sharing

Pace does not sell your data. Pace does not share your local journey data with third-party advertising or analytics services through a backend system (the App does not rely on external servers for its core functionality).

The only sharing described here is App-to-widget sharing through the App Group, which remains local to your device environment.

Retention and removal

Your stored data remains on your device unless you reset relevant journey data from within the App, or you uninstall the App (which typically removes the App’s local data).

Phone changes and data transfer

Pace does not provide device-to-device sync on its own. However, if you switch to a new iPhone and restore or migrate your data using Apple’s built-in backup/restore or device transfer features, your locally stored Pace data (including App Group data used by the widget) may be restored to the new device.

Security

We use standard iOS storage and system capabilities. However, no method of storage or device access is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

This Privacy Policy relates to data handling only. Separately, the App does not provide medical advice. See the Terms of Service for medical-related disclaimers and liability limitations.

Purchases and subscriptions

If the App offers subscriptions or one-time purchases, billing and purchase fulfillment are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple’s terms. We do not process your payment details.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will notify you through the App. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
